Do you support recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by changing the Constitution or making some other kind of legal change?
Should we have a statement that acknowledges the First Peoples of Australia?
Yes. This should be in the Constitution.
Where is the best place to put it?
a very informative strong preamble
What should the statement say?
who we are how long we have been here and what we have achieved being the worlds oldest surviving culture. the correct number of nations and languages spoken prior to colonisation. Speak about our precious caring and sharing culture and a value systems fo
Do you have any other comments on a statement about the First Peoples of Australia?
It should be done across the board on all legal and government pages documents.. Out of respect and honouring our people and the struggles we have had to stand tall today.
Should the word 'race' be taken out of the Constitution?
Should the Australian Parliament keep the power to make special laws for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples?
Do you have any other comments on powers to make laws for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples?
since the start every single law has not been for the health, wealth and wellbeing, or benefit of First Nations people only to benefit government and the greedy wealthy.
Do you think that a guarantee against racial discrimination should go into the Constitution?
Do you have any ideas about what words to use for that guarantee, or where in the Constitution to put it?
No but seriously I don't believe it will be passed anyway as too many Australians are against First Nations people gaining anything and very ignorant about the other minorities in Australia that causes racism.
Should the guarantee protect all Australians against racial discrimination, or only Indigenous Australians?
If there is not enough support for a guarantee in the Constitution, what other things can we do to stop racial discrimination in national laws?
Make tough decisions and stand by them intoduce and strength Acts to do so.
Do you have any other comments on changing the Constitution to stop racial discrimination?
Do you think Indigenous people should have a say when Parliament and government make laws and policies about Indigenous affairs?
Should a new Indigenous group be set up under the Constitution to give advice and make sure Indigenous people have a voice in political decisions that affect them?
Is it worth creating the new group if it can only give advice and does not have the power to block new laws?
Do you have any ideas about what the new group would look like?
add value to what we have Congress but ensure there is equal representation of all Nations and gender and age balance.
Do you have any other comments on this Indigenous group?
We have to stop being an advisory body we have to have the power and teeth to actually make/be the change that is needed to have true healing of country and her people as a whole.
Should we delete section 25?
What would we achieve by getting rid of section 25?
we would delete the Controlled division of people and them and us attitude
Is there any point in keeping it?
Do you have any other comments?
I believe that we should not be in the blueprint law making document at all. A beautiful preamble so that people know who we are and how long we have been here and that we have strong values and still hold the lore of the land. I believe we should instead
