Do you support recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by changing the Constitution or making some other kind of legal change?
Yes
What should the change look like?
Our constitution should be inclusive of ALL Australians. Australians = Citizens and Indigenous Australians should have the first right to be Citizens.
Should we have a statement that acknowledges the First Peoples of Australia?
I don't know
Do you have any other comments on a statement about the First Peoples of Australia?
I think this could be a nice touch to help us all move on. To be honest if including a reference helps mend the wound and to focus on the real issues then yes include it.
Should the word 'race' be taken out of the Constitution?
No
Should the Australian Parliament keep the power to make special laws for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples?
Yes
Do you have any ideas on what new words could be used to describe that power, or where in the Constitution to put the power?
Australian Parliament should be able to make laws for ALL Australians considering what is of best interest to their wellbeing and prosperity. The word "race" in the constitution should be used as an inclusive word to include "....all Citizens of Australi
Do you have any other comments on powers to make laws for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples?
Why dont we have the same group that is used for consultation with government to be able to publicly release and make recommendations on their needs and their requests so it can be transparent to all Australians.
Do you think that a guarantee against racial discrimination should go into the Constitution?
No
If there is not enough support for a guarantee in the Constitution, what other things can we do to stop racial discrimination in national laws?
Sorry but suggesting a guarantee in life beyond death is not in humanities gift today. This is irrational and is a promise that cannot be fulfilled. Totally wrong approach
Do you have any other comments on changing the Constitution to stop racial discrimination?
No - totally wrong approach, this is best done by how we educate our children, how as leaders in society we behave. And over time with consistency we change attitudes, look how far we have come, despite the distance we have to go.
Do you think Indigenous people should have a say when Parliament and government make laws and policies about Indigenous affairs?
Yes
Should a new Indigenous group be set up under the Constitution to give advice and make sure Indigenous people have a voice in political decisions that affect them?
Yes
Is it worth creating the new group if it can only give advice and does not have the power to block new laws?
Yes
Do you have any ideas about what the new group would look like?
there were problems with this approach previously where the group abused power
Do you have any other comments on this Indigenous group?
Isnt human nature interesting, the group should be on a rotational basis and include those leaders from communities that need the support and experience the "issues" the most and are the closest to the needs of Aboriginal people.
Should we delete section 25?
Yes
What would we achieve by getting rid of section 25?
It is inconsistent with Australian values and laws and should be removed
Is there any point in keeping it?
No - time to walk the talk
